Book lovers paradise.....

We started our day by following the  guide book’s suggestion of arriving at Trinity College when it opens right at 8:30. Good thing we did. The places got packed real quick. It doesn’t take an extroridary amount of time to go through bit was worth the stop. Julie and I bypassed the book of Kells and went straight to the upper library before the crowd came. Wow! Two story library filled with lovely old books.  I’m not sure how much of it I would read (pretty sure I wouldn’t understand much in books like those-no chick lit in there). Still the massive amounts of books just made me smile. Julie asked if I was ready to go back down but I told her I needed to do another lap around just in case I missed something.  Then we headed down to see the book of kells (no photos). It’s the main attraction. It’s a 1,200 year old version of the gospels that somehow survived the dark ages. It was elaborately inked. Pretty cool. They also had some descriptions of it to help people understand.

The other stop of the day was the art museum. Nice layout. Some some nice paintings. Didn’t stay too long. Having the art institute in Chicago spoils me with good art. Then walked through a few gardens. Mostly greens not flowers.

Then for lunch we met up with one of the girls’ relatives and visited a display on the famine. Doing my blog early because we are doing a pub crawl just outside of Dublin. Should be good (hopefullybthe eyes will stay open!)
