Rainy day, change in plans
Today we were supposed to go to the giants causeway and the carrick rope bridge. With 90% change of rain we decided to flip plans for today and tomorrow. Had an ulster breakfast (sausage, bacon (think more like ham) egg and 2 kinds of bread-soda and potato) at the hotel and then we were off. With Jill’s great driving skills, and my navigation, w / the help of Garmin, we headed south and west. We went to the marble arch caves. We went on a tour to see the caves where stalagmites and stalactites were growing. Those things grow slower than a sloth moves, so they have been there FOREVER! Pretty amazing to see the beauty of how nature works when there’s noone to mess it up! Then we took a short hike to see a waterfall. There were lush greens and a cute little waterfall (although after being to the National Park in Croatia that has a bunch of amazing ones its hard to say this one was great). Then we headed north to the town of Londonderry/London. We walked all along the top of the caste wall. We also got some great historical backgroundinfo from the tower museum. The lady there was sooo nice. She let us in as students and then even brought us YUMMY treats. I mean who does that? It was fantastic! My favorite shortbread/Carmel/chocolate one. Last thing was to head to Portrush where our hotel is for the next couple of nights. Boy was it BUSY and jam packed. Nice coastal town but not sure what they’re giving away for free!
