We made sure to have one of the first times slots for a reservation at the titanic so that we could avoid the bus load of crowds came to visit. It’s probably one of the most visited attractions, if not the most visited attraction, in Belfast-for good reason. We did not get the audio guide. Sometimes they can be too much but in this case it may have been helpful. They did have tons of signs and screens with information along the way. The museum was super well laid out. The visuals were great. It have some history of Belfast at the time and the history of the shipbuilders who made the Titantic. Who knew that there pride and joy would soon become their nightmare. The museum even had a little ride (it reminded me of he ride at LEGO land). It showed the process of building the ship. It took almost 2 hours (give or take) to get through the whole thing. Then we got the car and headed to St. George’s market. It was a little underwhelming. Some fish, fruit and veggie stands. Lots of stands thy reminded me of a garage sale. Lots of vintage stuff but not all in a good way. Also had a few food stands. A couple of the girls got crepes but I didn’t see anything that made me hungry. Then we walked to find one of the murals. I’m really glad we went in search of the black taxis to give us a tour of some of the murals further out (my achy feet couldn’t have handled the walk or a walking tour version of it). Our driver was nice enough and super informative. He grew up in Belfast and was directly involved so his version was a bit one sided. He is Catholic and joined the ira out of necessity he said. I think for anyone growing up, living through it-you have your own perspective. It would be interesting to hear the point of view from someone on the other side- the Protestant English abiding side. Anyways, lots of info and some history made for a well worth it ride. Last stop was dinner. Not where we intended because there was a private party found in but we found a great place - The Thirsty Goat. I had a burger that was tasty and some garlic cheese soda bread (delicious- all garlic bread should be on this type of bread!). Also have managed to avoid rain for the most part. A few sprinkles today but they only lasted for a few minutes. We are supposed to go to the Giants Causeway tomorrow but there’s a 90% chance of rain so we’re going to move that to Sunday and pray it doesn’t rain!
