Ring around the Kerry...

Today we drove around the Ring of Kerry, with Kerry at the wheel :)
Marge, our gps, again took us on a windy up and down tiny road route, even though we’re pretty certain there were bigger ‘highway like’ roads we could have taken. It did give us some great views of the countryside though.

We mostly followed Rick Steves’ suggested driving route. We just didn’t start in Kenmare because it was a bit out of the way. First stop was a round stone fort. Inside would have been huts where people lived. In pretty good shape for being so old. The steps to get up were quite precarious but I made it. Making it down was quite the sight- backwards hanging on, butt in the air, but I didn’t fall!

Glad there were lots of pull off spots to stop and try to capture the beauty. Really gorgeous greens to sandy beaches to islands in the ocean.

As we headed back into Killarney after finishing the ring we stopped at the cathedral. A wedding had just finished sober were able to go in.

Another great day exploring the beauty of Ireland. I think God may have used all the greens in his paintbox here! Tomorrow we do a few things in Killarney before heading south to Blarney. Most surprising thing about Ireland? The weather. Only rained once hard and a couple times with sprinkles (quick let me knock on wood). Today the weather here was warmer than home. I got sunburned. For real. Sunburn in IRELAND!! Don’t believe me? It’s not pretty but here’s the proof.....
