Today we left Hvar on the 8am ferry, which meant an early rise and quick breakfast at the hotel. We arrived in Split and met our bus and headed to a museum, only to find it locked up tight. Art asked the girl at the neighboring cafe and she said it was closed because it's some religious holiday today.  Anyone know which one?  Corpus Christi (a couple of people from the bus found out). So, plan B.  We dropped off our luggage in the hotel lobby and went off for our "orientation walk" which helps us know our hotel location in relation to everything else.  15 min. walk to old town where we wandered around, had lunch by the harbor and headed back to the hotel to get our rooms.  No pictures from Split yet because we have a tour in the am and I figured I'd take them when I know what things are.  A TON of pictures from Hvar are included here from our 2 day stay.  Lovely island but it's limited in "sights" to see.  One day we took a mini van tour from the hotel and got to see a few villages on the island.  Others in our group took a boat to a neighboring island.  Some of us were hoping to swim but the rain kept us away.

Room with a view again......lucky girl (although we couldn't enjoy the harbor breeze because the World Cup cheering lasted into the wee hours)

Artistic view of an island- I copied John :)

View from above during our van tour.

Proof I'm there and these pictures aren't just from Google   :)

The hillsides were COVERED in these long piles of rocks.  We asked our driver what they were/why were they all piled like that and he said the terrain was so rocky that before people could farm, they had to move the rocks and pile them up to make room and get to the soil to farm.

As we were driving we saw lavendar EVERYWHERE.  I didn't know it grew here.  We were able to stop and pick some and take pictures.  Very pretty.

Look at a little chapel built by someone to honor their family (just randomly found along the road).

View out the window at lunch towards the harbor.

Pathway down to the water.  People spread their towels out on the rocks to sunbathe (OUCH) then use the ladder to go down for a dip.

Where am I again?  :)   Couldn't pass up a chance to try the cheeseburger when we ate dinner at the bar at our hotel.  Tasty!
