Rainy day beauties
Enjoying the cool weather of Austria. Just wish it didn't come with the rain! Started at the Ettal monetary. Very gold. You walk in, look forward, to the side and up with your mouth hanging open. Did some damage in the giftshop. Skipped the beer and cheese that they make there and headed to the religious goodies. Then our group went to Oberammergau (trying saying that fast 3 times- I can't even say it once!). We spent the rest of the day there. After the plague hit the town, they promised to perform the Passion every 10 years if people would stop dying. It worked! Today people come from all over the world to see the production that lasts over 5 hours. Only people born in the town or people who have lived there at least 20 years can perform in it. We saw some video of it and it is quite spectacular. So if you don't have plans for 2020........get your tickets now!
What is that you may ask? A basket full of Jesus carvings....
