What a great way (and place) to celebrate your birthday!  My group was so kind and serenaded me a few times and gave me treats!  Art even bought treats for me to share with the whole "class".  It was so wonderful.  They made me feel very special.

Just a little writing today- but lots of pics. of course!  We started the day by going to Caernarfon to see the castle.  It was one of the castles built by King Richard to stake his claim to Wales.  It's quite impressive with a sea entrance and a land entrance.  One of the special things about the castle was that it had arrow slits that multiple men could shout out of at the same time (so same slit and 3 exits in different directions).  We climbed to the top for a great view down.

The other things on the agenda was a train ride aboard the Welsh Highland Railway (it was a narrow gauge steam train).  It was about an hour and half along and was fantastic.  The chug chug of the train and the views were so great.

Caernarfon castle- it has a special balcony where men are invested as the Prince of Wales.  Interesting tidbit of info.  Richard promised to follow 3 criteria for the 1st Prince of Wales- 1. Born in Wales   2. of noble descent  3. didn't speak English.  So Richard promptly had his pregnant wife transferred to this castle where she gave birth to Richard II who was noble, born in Wales and didn't speak English :)
Arrow slit w/multiple exits

The holes up above were for the men to drop down things on people trying to breech the castle.  A slew of things could be dropped- waste from the bathroom, rocks, lye.  The different arches shows each shows were a door was.  It would have taken a lot to get through this door!

At the train stop ready go!

The engine.

My birthday treats and a mug someone gave me!  : )

 My birthday dessert at dinner.
