Next we headed towards Loch Ness, which is the 2nd largest Scottish Loch. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined. It is more well known for the "sightings" of the Loch Ness monster. We first stopped to see the Caledonian Canal. It always fascinating to see it in progress. There were 2 boats making their way through the canal to higher water. I'm not sure what it's like at other canals but the people had to tie up their own boat and hold the rope. Then when it was time to move it to the next part they pulled the boat with their ropes. Interesting. After watching that for a bit, we went to a museum about the Loch Ness (we skipped Nessieland). The museum used short videos to show you the history behind the sightings, exploration and theories. They showed how certain sightings could actually be other things. I am leaning towards the sturgeon explanation myself.
