For the love of Gaudi!
For the love of Gaudi. For real, the man’s work is just amazing so today was all about Gaudi. We went back to 2 sights we saw when we were here 12 years ago. We took the bus up to Parc Guell. Our admission was for when it opened (thanks Art for hammering that tip in). We didn’t do his church La Sagrada Familia first because I wasn’t sure how much time I would need to wander aimlessly (turns out lots!) The benches in the park are as I remembered but the colorful mosaics made me smile. I was so focused on capturing it all before it was completely invaded by other tourists, that I may have missed the last step and went crashing down (it was literally only 4 in. High) So, HOPEFULLY I was just getting my 1 fall out of the way. I won’t show pictures but it hurts like a son of a gun and my 1 bandaid couldn’t quite contain it (it was also here that I remembered the 1 thing I forgot- Kleenex). Onward and limping upward we had to go a round about way to 1 of the 2 houses built on the property. Gaudi lived there and inside were a few of his things. They called it the Gaudi museum but I’m not sure I would. Save your 5 euros. After we walked a bit, we hopped in a cab to take us to the church (GREAT idea from our guide- our 5 euro and 10/15 minutes without walking the hills.) Then, it was the highlight of the day. We were early and took a walk around outside. We found a great bench to sit on and rest while I continually snapped away. One really can not describe it with adequate words. GOD IS GOOD and he lived in Gaudi. I put my new lens to use and snapped so many photos, I could make a book. I’ve selected a few here. It was sooooo hard to pick (and not because of the Advil pm that’s hitting in as I sit here). We walked back to the hotel, rested and washed the sweat off before heading out to get tapas for dinner. So good. Today was a Gaudi good day!
