Today was all about Alhambra. Our guide said most people come to Granada because they want to see it. Once you see it, you understand why- WOW! It was the last Moorish stronghold in Europe. The palace is stunning and grounds are immaculate. It is something you don’t see. I think the only place I have seen something similar is Sevilla. Words cannot describe the Palace and try as I might I’m not sure my photos do it justice. I tried to capture just how unique and stunning it was- as Julie will attest to because she had to stop and wait for me so much. I just don’t think pictures can accurately show it. I’m pretty sure I walked around the whole thing with my mouth open- stunned speechless. We arrived a little after 8:30 and saw the gardens first which worked out great because there were not many people there. Beautiful and so manicured (and I thought I had a lot of bushes to trim at home!). Then we had an 11:00 entry to the Palace and that was my happy spot. I took my time (some would say too much) to walk, stop and admire and just ENJOY the beauty- in the tile work, the intricate ceilings and carvings on the walls and arches. After I was finally done at the palace we wandered around looking at the other things. We didn’t leave until 2:30. We weren’t brave enough to walk down the S-T-E-E-P roads to get back to the main square but a quick taxi ride got us there (best 5 Euro spent). Then we relaxed a bit until our group dinner at a restaurant with a view of the Alhambra.
