Oh it’s been a day. Started off by leaving Massachusetts and decided to detour from our original plans and we made our way into another state - Rhode Island. We went into Newport to do the cliff tours to see some of the old mansions. Unfortunately that’s where the best in me did not appear. I feel like it was a bit of klutzy karma when I posed next to a safety sign warning not to fall near the cliff because then I proceeded to fall. Twice. In 10 minutes 🤦🏻♀️ you might be thinking to yourself ‘oh the path must’ve been bumpy or even’. Nope. Fully paved and straight. But do you know that like 2 inch or 3 inch gap in between a paved path and the grass? Kind of like a mini ditch? Well this klutz found it twice. First it was my elbow and camera that took the brunt. The second was a little my fault because I was trying to fix my jammed camera and down I went again. My knee and my ankle got it then. And we hadn’t even made it to the cliff walk. We were just on the path to get to the cliff walks. I followed along and saw some of the mansions. Then I turned back and enjoyed putting my feet in the cold Atlantic water. Then we had a bit of a drive to get to Vermont. 4 1/2 hours. We listened to a book on tape to pass the time. Then we arrived at out home base for the next two days. I dare say the most magical place I’ve seen in the Northwest yet- The Von
Trapp lodge. I did not realize that they had settled here after leaving Europe. You can instantly tell why they chose this location as it is so reminiscent of Switzerland and Austria. All hills covered with green trees. The lodge is styled after homes you would find in Europe. Numerous different things on the huge property, including a coffee house, beer house, running farm etc. It was definitely a great way to end and otherwise rough day. The hills are alive….with happiness 😁(i’ll save the carnage of my falls for the end so don’t scroll all the way if you don’t want to see them)
Rhode Island
Bad karma picture ……
The magical Von Trapp lodge
Dinner at their beer house (they make their own beer- the girls said it was good). We shared the meat platter Yum! (Not as big of a fan of the wild animals…..)
DO NOT KEEP SCROLLING if you don’t want to see injuries!!
