Another busy day in York. No rest for the tourists! We began our day a the York Castle Museum (
http://www.yorkcastlemuseum.org.uk). It was FANTASTIC!! It is housed in 2 old prisons aparently. One side is the old women's prison. It takes you back in time to see different rooms, clothing, toys, etc. It even has an authentic looking street from the days long passed. The store fronts, props and even couple of workers dressed in period clothing, make it seem like you took a ride back in time, Quantum Leap style. After that you head over to the debtors prison side. This side takes you through WWI. The layout and all the displays were very cool. After that, there is a more lightsided room that takes you back to Beatlemania in the 60's. You end by going through some of the debtors cells. WARNING: do with a friend! (unlike how I did it). I got myself a little freaked out when I paused too long in one area and a very spooky recording came on. When the chains started rattling, I decided to skedaddle!
Clifford's Tower (outside museum) In the 12th century a large group of Jewish people took refuge here. Instead of turnin themselves over, they ended their lives by their own hands.
Our next stop was at York Minster (
http://www.yorkminster.org/home.html). What a massive church! We were scheduled for a guided tour. Unfortunately, the tours are led by volunteers and there weren't enough for us to have one. (there were quite a few others, so I'm not sure how we got the shaft and they didn't but say-la-vie (yes I know that's not how you spell it)). I think a guide would have helped TREMENDOUSLY because otherwise all I saw was a bunch of pretty arches, detailed stained windows and ornate memorials. Still, a nice church to mander through.....If Julie had to rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 passed on the amount of time she had to wait for me to be done taking pictures, she'd probably give it a 4.5 :)

The rest of the afternoon and evening were ours to enjoy! We headed down the shambles. It's an old street that is lined with timber buildings and used to be home to many butchers. We found a place along there to dine and feasted on fish and chips. The breading was so crunchy yet so light. BRILLANT. Then a little window shopping alog the way. After dinner at a Turkish restaurant (I had a Turkish pizza....interesting) Julie and I went on "Ghost Hunt of York". It was more comedic than scary but was funny and a good way to spend an hour in the evening.
Hey, wait.....what?? Maybe TJ's sibling
